I just wasted 2 1/2 hours...
...reading the Christian blogosphere, as it's called. Talk about the Web destroying the potential of individuals for civil discourse. I'll stand by what I stand in my oral defense of my SIP - electronic communication's principal function within the realm of the Church has been to disseminate theological controversy. And personal controversy, since people love ad hominem.
People really are deceitful and desperately wicked. There's not much hope for us. I'm finding silence is the only cure.

Maybe I am just wildly idealistic, but it strikes me that one can still have civil discourse even on the Web...maybe it takes more discipline, as the medium is more conducive to misunderstanding, but the fact that there are several covblogs (yours included) that have often discussed theological issues without resorting to name-calling provides fuel for my unquenchable fire of optimism. :)

Yes, but most of us have known each other off-line. I'm just talking about general tendencies of a medium (McLuhan coming out in me again) w/o trying to deny that individuals can consciously transcend them. But in order to transcend limitations, we must first become aware of them.
