bought "hail to the thief" last night
Favorite songs: "Sail to the Moon," "Where I End and You Begin," "I will," "A Wolf at the Door." It's a gloomy album, more so, I think, than "Kid A"/"Amnesiac," despite having more conventional instruments on it than were used in those sessions. It almost seems like a return to mid-period Radiohead (i.e. "OK Computer"), though the arrangements are definitely sparser. Some of the chords and vocal harmonies (feedback-like) are absolutely lovely - like those on "Sail to the Moon" when the piano goes tickling up the scale to (un)resolve at the end.
An excellent use of my Christmas gift card money, I think - especially since it's unpurchaseable via iTunes.

Yes. Sail to the Moon is one of my favorites. Glad you bought the album. I find that the first half of the album is stronger than the second, but still, some very good stuff on there.
"I Will" played backwards is "Like Spinning Plates." Makes me wish for a turntable.
Little babies' eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes....little babies' eyes.....
